Scholars at Risk (SAR) Network

Scholars at Risk (SAR) is an international network dedicated to protecting scholars and promoting academic freedom worldwide. SAR provides sanctuary to scholars whose lives or careers are at risk due to their academic work, political views, or activism, ensuring that they can continue their research and teaching in safe environments. One such case is that of Marfa Rabkova, a Belarusian human rights defender that has been targeted for her activism and has been imprisoned in Belarus for her efforts to document human rights violations and engage in peaceful advocacy.

SAR, along with its global partners, has actively supported campaigns advocating for Marfa Rabkova's release, recognising her unjust imprisonment as part of a broader crackdown on academic and human rights freedoms in Belarus.
